Welcome back, everyone!
I recently had a spectacular session with the Sheffield family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I truly have the best clients ever! This family was no exception, either. Terri and Trude have 7 children and have been wanting to have a family session for more than 3 years! With the oldest 2 kids in college out of town, life just got in the way.
This past May, Terri contacted me privately and expressed a desire to surprise Trude for her birthday with a family session. She had already started thinking of locations, colors for their outfits, and even what products they were interested in. Talk about a go-getter!
I should also mention this – I have known the Sheffield family over 10 years, and I know Trude is a woman who knows everything that her family plans, so creating a surprise was going to be a challenge. But Terri and I were up for it. We scheduled their session 2 weeks before Trude’s birthday to make sure she had no idea. Terri arranged all the outfits, took the kids shopping, had their hair cut, and even had Trude’s outfit ready before their session.
When the day of the session came, I drove to San Antonio and showed up completely unannounced at the restaurant Terri and Trude were eating at! Trude was so stunned and speechless. After a birthday lunch, we picked up all the kids, got everyone ready, and headed to the park for a late afternoon session.

I loved photographing the session at Converse City Park because they have beautiful grassy areas that overlook a stunning lake. It’s a dream location for gorgeous family portraits.
It was a beautiful portrait session. In the words of Trude:
“It was truly an awesome experience… and the outcome was amazing! I’m a very proud Mama no matter what the occasion, but I have to say, I couldn’t stop smiling and saying “That’s my family, and we look so awesome!” This was truly a priceless birthday gift!”
