Hi everyone! We’re coming to you today with some weekday inspiration.
This is the time of year when everything gets *crazy*. Almost every profession and household feels rushed, stressed and anxious about various dates and deadlines approaching. At Dazzling Light it’s no different. Our clients are keeping us wonderfully busy by allowing us to capture their Holiday portraits and design stunning and unique products for them.
As I’m (Donna) writing this, it’s late at night, and I’ve just taken a breath from preparing for my morning Viewing Session. The slideshow and portraits are ready for my clients to come see. There is a quiet stillness that happens when everything is done, but my mind is still trying to figure out “what’s next”. At times like this, it hits me strongly of how blessed I am to be serving the world with my passion as my full time career.
If you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen earlier in the week I posted a speech that actor Jim Carrey gave to a group of university graduates. It was so profound that it’s been coming back to my mind over and over.
A few key things that Carrey said were remarkably inspiring. A few quotes include:
“What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it. I’m saying, I’m the proof, that you can ask the universe for it.”
“I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which, is that you can fail at what you don’t love, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
We live in a practical world, where we are taught to get a “safe” and “dependable” job so we can survive and provide for our families. But is it what we *love*? A fellow photographer and inspiration to me, Sandy Puc, told her class “What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.” Talk about a reality check!
I hope this post inspires you to reflect on your path. Are you happy? Have you settled too many times and are far from where you want to be? It’s never too late to live your passion. I discovered 7 years ago that even just having my business part time and still working a full time job (that I really did NOT enjoy) left me more fulfilled, happy, and grateful.
