Why should we hire a professional? My friend/relative has a “good” camera!
While cameras are improving with technology daily, the camera is only one tool used to create an artistic portrait. Professional photographers have educated themselves on not only the fundamentals of photography, but on social, emotional, and design aspects as well. When you pay for a professional in any trade, you are paying for more than just an object. You are investing in the hundreds of hours they have dedicated to learning their trade and the professionalism they show. For me, your portraits are not just “pictures”, they are small pieces of my heart and show the love I have for my clients. They are time capsules that are passed down for generations, and memories that can never be replaced.
How far in advance should I book my session?
For maternity and newborn, I recommend booking in the 6-7th month of pregnancy to ensure we have all details and sessions booked before Mom goes into labor. I capture the maternity session in the 8th month so we have the nice round belly images. I also work very closely to the family to reschedule the newborn session if the baby is early, late, or Mom is being induced. This reduces stress and is one less thing to worry about when going in to have the baby.
For family or milestone portraits, I suggest booking 3-4 weeks in advance. This gives my clients time to finalize location (if outside the studio), gather any props, shop for and put together outfits, and get things like haircuts and manicures/pedicures.It also ensures we have you on our calendar and your little one’s milestone is captured on time.
What makes you different than other professional photographers in your area?
At Dazzling Light Photography, everything from the first phone call to the delivery of your products is an experience. There are many wonderful photographers in the Central Texas area. I run my business full time and devote all my professional attention to it. I give my clients and potential clients options and make myself available to them almost always. I’ve been known to take clients shopping if they need accessories for their outfits, and have been pulled into several closets to help pick out clothing! It’s my goal to not only provide amazing portraits and products for my clients, but give them an experience from start to finish that they will always look back on and smile.
Can our pets be a part of our portraits?
Yes! Please let us know at the pre-consultation, so we can make sure to send you our Tips & Tricks for having your pet in your family portrait. We will also bring treats, toys, and an assistant to help out. If you are thinking of having your pet photographed with your baby, we suggest waiting until at least the Sitter Session (about 6-7 months). This allows for all you babies to interact and for us to capture laughter, kisses and much more variety of shots.
How do we go about securing our session?
The session fee is due at the time of booking to reserve your date/time. If you need to reschedule, 24 hours is required for the session fee to transfer to the new date/time. Same day cancellations forfeit the session fee and a new fee is required. Changes due to weather are not included in this and there is no charge for a rescheduling. If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as you can, as we try to work as much as possible with our clients and take everything on a case by case basis.
Do you have discount programs available?
I have created a wonderful baby program called the Keepsake Collections baby program for maternity through 1 year that allows the stress to be taken off the parents and captures the baby’s milestone for the first year. After that, I have the Growing Graduates program that is for kids 18 months to 5 years. I created these programs to give discounts to my clients and help the children get to know me. We also have a referral program that gifts the person who referred a special discount on their upcoming sessions.
Do you sell Digital Portraits of images?
Absolutely! We are a full-service portrait studio, so you don’t have to go-it alone! When we meet for our pre-consultation, I will have you tell me more about what you’re looking for from your session. Are you considering birth announcements? Are you seeking digital portraits so that you may print gifts or to share? What about displaying your artwork around your home on the walls? Printing is the best way to ensure your images will last and not be stored away in the bottom of a desk drawer. Busy moms know it’s hard to find the time to print them (and be sure they’re printed correctly to be sure they LAST). Our printed portraits and wall artwork are heirloom products that will last for a lifetime. They’re truly breathtaking, and I can’t wait to show you!
