I have come to the realization that I haven’t been using this blog lately for what I really wanted – to let readers get to know ME, and what’s in my heart. I can’t promise that from now on it will be perfect, but I will do my best to add more content from my heart, because I know I have a lot to share, and if just one thought can change or improve one person’s life, then it’s worth putting it all out there.
Some (or many, I’m not sure how many this blog reaches – yet) of you know that my husband Jason and I are in the process of restructuring not only our business, formally Donna Lawson Photography and now Dazzling Light Photography, but our lives. We have gone through many life changing events in the short span of the year we have been married. It has not been the “typical” honeymoon in the first year that some people are blessed with. In fact, we still haven’t taken an official honeymoon. I say this not to complain, but to uplift. You see, though this past year, Jason and I have been brought closer together, and closer to our Lord, Jesus, than either of us thought possible. We have stepped out in faith daily, had setbacks, been led in different directions, and seen the miracles of believing in God and letting Him have control.
Though these experiences, we have discovered what we truly desire our business to be – a ministry to others and a way to serve and help our community. My heart and soul are in the photographs I take of my clients, and I want to give each person I come across daily this gift of time. Because isn’t that what a photograph is, but time that has been stopped, documented or captured? I recently heard 2 quotes that have really made me stop, think, and pray for the direction of Dazzling Light Photography. They are:
” Love what you do, because you are exchanging a day of your life to do it”
“You get a birth certificate when you are born. You get a death certificate when you die. Photographs prove you lived!”
I want people, myself included, to look back on their lives, or the lives of their loved ones and see the personality, sparkle, and dazzling light that we all bring to this world. It is an honor to be given this gift to share with those around me. While there will always be work to do and “stuff” to deal with, serving others and the Lord will always be the heart of Dazzling Light Photography.
Thank you for reading and letting me share a little bit of the great passion I have inside. My prayer is that we are able to touch our city, state, even world with our love and ministry.
Many Blessings,
Donna
